President’s Message – June 2017

After canceling two shows we have finally had two shows at Lincoln. We have revised our show schedule to add a show the first weekend in October to make up for one of the shows. Please note that brings the total shows to seven and requires four shows to compete for year-end awards. Our Awards Committee is busy lining up great awards again this year that will be presented to the top six in each class. Jeff Smith saddles are already on order. Be sure and put our Awards Banquet on your calendar. It will be held at Rancho Murieta Country Club on October 21, 2017.
Our NCHA shows in Red Bluff were not as big as we had hoped, but we still raised a little money to help us with our awards program. I want to thank all of the GCCHA Board members who worked so hard to make these show happen. We changed our date for next year to avoid overlapping with the PCCHA Show in Paso Robles. PCCHA has approved next year’s show for February 23-25, 2018. We have already received sponsorships from the people of Red Bluff and the Cattlewomen and Kristin Behrens (Andy Adams) have agreed to sponsor the Wine/Beer and Horderves night. It is always a highlight of our show. We hope everyone puts it on their calendar for next year as a “must go to” show.
We are lucky to be able to hold our shows at the Miller Ranch in Lincoln. Dave has graciously agreed to a 3-year lease for GCCHA. I hope you have noticed that we have invested in the ground in the two show arenas. Our next project is to work on the ground in the round loping pen. It is not bad on the edge, but the middle needs some work. We hope to have the project finished by the next show in July. Thanks to Lee Livingston for donating the trucking and for Ed Magonigal for his time on the tractor.
